If the title Invitation To The Dance gives a very broad hint as to the contents of Guild’s second release this quarter, compiler David Ades has managed to include a few surprises. Dance Of The Goblins, Piccolo Polka, The Dancing Cane, Rhumba For Romeos and Millionaire’s Hoe-Down are compositions that will probably be unfamiliar to many but the quality ofthe music, faithfully remastered by Alan Bunting, is second to none. Among the better known pieces are Mexican Hat Dance, splendidly performed by Michael Freedman’s orchestra, and a charming performance of the Ascot Gavotte from percy Faith.
